I am involved in PFSS through my work as Training, Outreach and Education Coordinator for Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District where we have a very robust community run transfer station and have zero waste mission. LSWDD’s work includes self separated recycling on site, baling and transporting clean recyclables (including plastics), and education and events focused on reduction of plastic usage and creating zero waste alternatives for our community. These missions are very dear to my heart as I value our pristine ecosystems both marine and terrestrial on the San Juan Islands and see responsible waste management as a part of that important stewardship.
